Xavier Dolino Memorial page

This page is dedicated to Xavier Dolino, who passed away with Leukaemia at the age of 37. He was a Senior Fitness4x4 Trainer and an inspirational Health Pioneer.  This page has been set up to honour Xavier in a unique way.

In the last three years, Xavier was hit with Leukemia three times, and three times told he would probably not survive. With massive personal resolve and commitment to fighting the illness with fitness & good nutrition, rather than with drugs, he defied the odds and recovered to full health twice. Not merely surviving the illness, but returning to world-class competition and to a truly inspiring and contagious level of fitness and vitality. The third time it struck his body was not able to withstand it.

However, in his last days in the hospital, he continued to motivate and teach those around him. That was Xavier. He kept lifting his dumbbells and training in the best way he knew, no matter what life threw at him. And to his dying day, he continued to create energy, in defiance of what the disease was trying to do to him. It is this spirit and this commitment to physical vitality that we want to honour on this page.

A short video clip has been put together by Fitness4x4. It features photos & video of Xavier from our recent archive and has been put together over the song ‘Monagri’, which was a favourite song of Xavier’s, written by his friend and fitness colleague Rajko Radovic.

If you knew Xavier the video will remind you of his passion for life, for fitness, for teaching, for his friends and for having a positive impact on the health of everyone he encountered. If you didn’t know Xavier, hopefully, you will still get a sense of the very same thing.

His mentor and friend Dragan Radovic has invited everyone who knew Xavier (or would simply like to honour him) to perform 100 continuous lifts of any dumbbell. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing – take 5 minutes from your schedule to do these 100 lifts. To take a minute’s silence to remember the man…then take 5 minutes of physical action to honour what the man stood for. It is absolutely what he would have wanted.

If you would like to be part of this commemoration or share your story of Xavier, please send us your own personal comment and we will add it to this page.

My tribute to Xavier this afternoon – 100 reps @ 20kg with a low voice “thank you” after every 10 reps. The personal “thank you” from my side is truly genuine. I will be forever grateful to Xavi for introducing me to the Hour of Power and the Fitness 4×4 training. He was a prime example of strong will, steel determination and exceptional ability to push the body to its maximum limits. Not only was he an exceptional fitness trainer, but he also stood out as a passionate student of nutrition and healthy eating (picture below – Xavi making Zucchini noodles).

I can also picture him dancing so gracefully at Funky Seomra in Dublin back in 2009.

His soul might have left his body, the body is after all a vulnerable machine. But his spirit, his work, his teachings and his ideals will always stay with us and will continue to inspire us forever.

Xavier was a great guy, full of drive, determination and fighting spirit, yet he was also very generous, sensitive and cared greatly for other people. He devoted himself completely to healthy living and wherever he went, his passion, commitment and enthusiasm rubbed off on those around him and inspired them to strive to be their best. May his passion live on through us and may his memory inspire us all to embrace life the way he did.

Met Xavier on a training course in Hemel Hampstead. He had a strong body and strong mind – a motivation to us all. 100 lifts done in memory of a great guy. I’m currently living in Perth, Australia and joining in with all those others scattered around the world having had the ‘Xavier touch’…

I remember Xavier as a very energetic person who was passionate about things he believed in. He had a selfless attitude to help others and had the mental strength and ability to get himself and others involved by giving their all.

Well done Xavier for all the things you have accomplished – you are an inspiration.

Xaviar, today I hear that you are not with us no longer Frenchy. To say the world has lost one of it’s finest athletes would be an understatement. I was always amazed, inspired and secretly jealous of the energy you had. During the one year having you as my personal trainer I know I used to hate the fact you would push me to a new limit but you made it fun (I can see that now). I can’t believe I’m never going to get that email every year ,” Imran I’m coming to England, time to get into shape”..

A person who had a sense of humour Like no other.. I remember when you tried getting me to eat Just raw food! And was convinced it tasted nice too!! You have left us too soon but I can say no one who has ever met you will ever forget you.

Good bye Frenchy!! Till we meet again !! Till then it’s just the memories and I promise I’ll try and get back into hour of power !!

Xavier kicked my butt in the gym so many times. He was so passionate and inspirational, and he influenced many people in Dublin with his positive attitude. He was a one-of-a-kind.

The last I saw of Xavier was when I had dinner with him and a few other instructors, it was the usual – joking, laughing, communing, gossiping. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the company of each one around the table. I had no idea that would be the last time I would ever see him.

It’s such sad news, even for someone who didn’t know him amazingly well. So let us not take for granted our friends and family, for who knows when the last time you will ever get to see them will be. Your life and your work shall be honoured through our actions and memories of you.Good bye my friend.
