Xavier Dolino Memorial page

This page is dedicated to Xavier Dolino, who passed away with Leukaemia at the age of 37. He was a Senior Fitness4x4 Trainer and an inspirational Health Pioneer.  This page has been set up to honour Xavier in a unique way.

In the last three years, Xavier was hit with Leukemia three times, and three times told he would probably not survive. With massive personal resolve and commitment to fighting the illness with fitness & good nutrition, rather than with drugs, he defied the odds and recovered to full health twice. Not merely surviving the illness, but returning to world-class competition and to a truly inspiring and contagious level of fitness and vitality. The third time it struck his body was not able to withstand it.

However, in his last days in the hospital, he continued to motivate and teach those around him. That was Xavier. He kept lifting his dumbbells and training in the best way he knew, no matter what life threw at him. And to his dying day, he continued to create energy, in defiance of what the disease was trying to do to him. It is this spirit and this commitment to physical vitality that we want to honour on this page.

A short video clip has been put together by Fitness4x4. It features photos & video of Xavier from our recent archive and has been put together over the song ‘Monagri’, which was a favourite song of Xavier’s, written by his friend and fitness colleague Rajko Radovic.

If you knew Xavier the video will remind you of his passion for life, for fitness, for teaching, for his friends and for having a positive impact on the health of everyone he encountered. If you didn’t know Xavier, hopefully, you will still get a sense of the very same thing.

His mentor and friend Dragan Radovic has invited everyone who knew Xavier (or would simply like to honour him) to perform 100 continuous lifts of any dumbbell. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing – take 5 minutes from your schedule to do these 100 lifts. To take a minute’s silence to remember the man…then take 5 minutes of physical action to honour what the man stood for. It is absolutely what he would have wanted.

If you would like to be part of this commemoration or share your story of Xavier, please send us your own personal comment and we will add it to this page.

Xavier was an amazing man and lived a full life. He was not only the kind of man people wanted to be, he was the kind of man people would be proud to be. I like to believe that when we lose someone close to us they still live through us and give us strength. The time we have spent with those we’ve lost makes them part of us.

Xavier was a great mentor to me and I choose to honour his memory by continuing to live as well as I can in the ways he taught me. Xavier has had a positive impact on my life, he convinced me to stop eating meat – still not quite sure how, I didn’t want to – and it has stuck for 2 years now, although he could never quite teach me to a do a squat correctly, not from want of trying. It is obvious from these pages that Xavier impacted many other people in a positive way in his short 37 years and he will continue to inspire even though he has now left us. I know we will meet again when my time has come. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Xavier Dolino was an inspiration to all who he came in contact with. He was uncompromising with his training and never gave less than 100%. He was the first person to bring Hour of Power to Dublin and I attended his first class (over 5 years ago) which was for all the instructors in our gym. He kicked our arses that day and you could really see he enjoyed it. His enthusiasiam for training and healthy eating was infectious and I found myself training harder and eating better in the hope that it might impress him. I am very greatful to have known Xavier Dolino and although he lived a short life, he lived it his way and he has left his mark on so many people’s lives for a long long time. Tonight’s Hour of Power class in Dublin was dedicated to his memory. I know that he would much prefer people to shed sweat instead of tears to mark his passing over. May he rest in peace.

A friend and inspiration. Xavier thought me about the Fitness 4×4 principles while we worked together in Dublin. Everytime I trained a client using these principles I always thought of Xavier. I am deeply saddened about this news. You will truly be missed and always in our hearts. 100 lifts will be done. RIP

To dear Xavier – I have done my 100 lifts.

I will always remember Xavier for his zest for life and his zeal for health and fitness. He wanted to give so much to improve the health and fitness of anybody and everybody that crossed his path. His knowledge of health and fitness and nutrition was immense and he was never, ever stuck for an answer, no matter what you asked him. He talked about being an aethist but actually lived and walked the life of someone believing in God. He was devoted to his dog Joe, who was always trying to pinch our dinner if any of us got up for a moment when 4 of us shared a house in Pakistan. Joe was a huge, bulldog dog with saliva dripping from his mouth but he was adorable and he was Xavier’s best friend. I will always remember how we roared with laughter when the health club driver, Masood ran for his life with Joe behind him, not realising Joe wouldn’t harm a flea. Unfortunately Joe passed away the second time Xavier was sick and Xavier was gutted but still recovered to our delight. Third time round though Xavier has lost the battle and now jumped the queue to go and join Joe. We will all miss you Xavier, you gave so much without thinking to get anything back.
